Position Title: Laboratory Manager
Reporting to: Director of Environmental, Safety and Health
Location: Andrews County, Texas
The Opportunity: WCS is seeking a Laboratory Manager to manage laboratory functions and analysis relating to the operations of the WCS West Texas facility. The Laboratory Manager reports directly to the Director of Environmental, Safety and Health and may be exposed to radiation within occupational limits.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Manages laboratory personnel ; 4 - 6 technicians and one chemist
Periodically reviews analytical information from all laboratory personnel for technical correctness and compliance
Provides oversight of recipe development for waste treatment
Assists the Director of Operations in formulating waste acceptance and characterization guidance
Assures that all waste received at the facility is in compliance with permits and the Land Disposal Restrictions Program
Advises and consults with management regarding laboratory support including, but not limited to sample identification, waste stabilization, characterization, various chemical analysis, sampling and processing waste
Supervises laboratory programs
Operates the Analytical Laboratory of the facility
Conducts oversight of all analysis performed in conjunction with the Waste Analysis Plan for the facility
Secures competent off-site analytical services where necessary
Assures all samples of waste or media taken under the Waste Analysis Plan utilize proper protocols and that all laboratory wastes are managed properly
Ensures the maintenance of all laboratory equipment
Implements Quality Controls and Quality Assurance programs for the lab
Acts as a mentor for all laboratory personnel
Develops and maintains laboratory budget
Performs other related work activities as required
Supervisory Responsibilities: The Laboratory Manager directly supervises employees in the Laboratory Department and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. The Opportunity:
WCS is seeking an ES&H professional to join the management team and oversee all worker safety and environmental compliance aspects of Andrew’s, Texas facility.
