Engineering and Environmental Consultants, Inc. (EEC) has an opening for an Environmental Specialist in its Phoenix office. Primary Responsibilities The successful candidate will have experience and knowledge in Phase I/II ESAs, LUST, SAF, RCRA, and NESHAP. Job responsibilities include performing small to large, due diligence projects, conduct field investigation, research and compile data, analyze environmental data, write environmental reports, interface with clients and regulatory agencies, assist with labor/material estimates, support project managers with permitting and regulatory compliance, and CADD and GIS. The candidate must be able to manage multiple task assignments while working within strict budgets and schedules. Some in-state travel may be required as needed dependent on projects assigned. Education/Experience Required The successful candidate must have a Bachelor?s degree in Geology, Hydrology, Environmental Science or closely related science field and 3-6 years of professional experience. Candidate must function as an effective team member but be able to demonstrate personal initiative. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office; Word, Excel and Outlook. Must have excellent technical writing skills, experience in spreadsheet preparation, strong attention to detail, good interpersonal skills with a sense of humor and a willingness to learn, grow and advance with the company. The successful candidate will have current 40-Hour OSHA HAZWOPER training with current 8-hour refresher training. Other certifications in asbestos and lead based paint are also desired. Physical Requirements Other requirements include having a valid Arizona driver?s license, being capable of site visits and field operation, use office equipment, lift 25 lbs, and pass a pre-employment drug screen. Serves as a lead wildland firefighter on a wildland fire engine. Drives and operates a wildland fire engine, positioning the engine for proper use and operation. Incumbent performs wildland fire fighting work and leads crews performing such work. The crews perform work directly related to wildland fire suppression and control activities including suppression, preparedness, prevention, monitoring, hazardous fuels reduction, and prescribed burning. Assures that needed tools and equipment are available for fire fighting tasks. Operates a variety of motor vehicles to transport equipment, supplies, crewmembers, etc. Provides daily leadership and training for the crewmembers. Instructs crewmembers in specific tasks and techniques; conducts on-the-job training, distributes and controls work assignments, assures timely accomplishment of assigned tasks; maintains work notes and records; reports on work accomplishments, ensures the work is carried out safely; reports on performance problems and issues. May perform hazardous fuel reduction projects, which entail thinning, cutting and piling vegetation. May assist in the preparation of hazardous fuels treatment plans and burn plans based on predicted fire behavior and risk assessment.
