Job Title: Supervisory Forestry Technician Smokejumper Assistant Operations Manager Detail Temp Promotion Company: Location: Boise, ID Description: Assists the Operations Manager in managing all aspects of smokejumper operations and in the absence of the Operations Manager assumes the role of primary duty officer.  Directly supervises and or assists in the supervision of 60 personnel. Responsibilities include the following: analyzing and coordinating workloads, making work assignments, establishing training requirements and ensuring they are met. Establishes performance standards and standard operating procedures. Resolves a wide range of personnel, technical, and operational problems involving smokejumper personnel and other programs and agencies. Assists in the following: plans, schedules, coordinates, and reviews all BLM smokejumper operations. Provides reports, statistics, and seasonal evaluations to the smokejumper group leader. Maintains an updated inventory of all specialized smokejumper equipment. Develops and annually updates all guides and manuals associated with smokejumper operations. Ensures the efficient, effective, and safe use of BLM smokejumpers by communicating with national, geographical area, local unit fire managers, coordinators, dispatchers, and other essential personnel. Serves as an active smokejumper, ICS overhead, and parachute rigger.
