Incumbent participates primarily in general forest management. Serves as a skilled forestry technician able to cruise timber and develop cruise summaries, issue timber cutting, rock collecting, and crafting permits to tribal members. Assists the Supervisory Forester with the development of timber sale permits and contracts, timber stand improvement treatments, and timber management plans. Identifies eastern tree species forest pests and diseases. Applies resource protection practices and techniques to minimize forest resource damage. Other related duties involve resource protection patrol, insect detection, and timber trespass detection. The incumbent will also be involved in computer operations including GPS, data recorders, large format plotters, laser rangefinders, digital photography, and others. Additionally be responsible for the maintenance and repair of forestry tools, equipment, and upkeep of facilities.
