Responsibilities: The Health, Safety, & Environmental Specialist is responsible for administering the Company's safety programs and creating and implementing training initiatives in order to provide a safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible multi-site workplace. Oversee programs to assure compliance with corporate HSE programs as well as applicable OSHA, EPA, NFPA, state and federal HSE regulations. The HSE Specialist will assist in analysis of new processes or new equipment to assure the safety of operation. Position will involve development of Safety procedures and implementation of those procedures. Monitoring of safety rules and practices will be a daily activity. Additional responsibilities include but not limited to: site safety inspections, monitoring workers compensation, post accident testing, costs, policies/procedures, coordination with other business unit locations and creating and implementing improvements on existing training programs. • Utilize Lean Manufacturing principles as a means to drive safety compliance and continuous improvement.• Develop methods to identify operation hazards and evaluate safety problem areas. Identify and evaluate hazardous conditions and practices. Review injury and property damage reports. Provide advice and counsel concerning all city, state, and federal compliance regulations. Survey to identify and evaluate conditions.• Perform safety audits• Communicate regularly with senior management• Ensure appropriate corrective actions are taken on health, safety and environmental hazards or potential hazards. Select, develop and evaluate personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function. • Provide guidance and direction to other departments to ensure compliance. • Maintain metrics to measure progress• Develop programs to reduce injury potential• Travel to other business locations• Work additional hours as needed• Assist Human Resources in various initiatives• Perform other related duties as directed that correspond to the overall function of this position. Qualifications: EDUCATION:Requires a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety or Environmental Engineering. EXPERIENCE:Between 3 - 5 years prior related experience in Occupational Health, Safety and/or Environmental Sciences preferably in an industrial/manufacturing environment. Experience working with multi site locations and extra hours as a norm. SKILLS: Comprehensive knowledge of HSE principles, concepts, theories and practices in a manufacturing/heavy equipment environment• Ability to use influencing skills rather than authority to achieve targets• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written• Proven ability to produce results• Ability to work in a fast paced environment with changing priorities• Experience working with multiple locations in other states• Strong problem analysis, judgment and decision making skills• Computer skills are required MS Office Word and Excel• Strong documentation and reporting skills• Presentation and training skills required• Perform work with minimal errors PHYSICAL JOB DEMANDS: The following physical demands are required to perform the essential functions of this job: BALANCE, BEND, CARRY, CLIMB, CRAWL, CROUCH, FINE DEXTERITY, HANDLE, HEAR, HOLD, INSERT, LIFT, PULL, PUSH, REACH, SEE, SIT, SMELL, STAND, TALK, TOUCH, TWIST, WALK, GRIP, and COLOR DIFFERENTIATION.
