The assignment involves being part of a project team collecting groundwater samples from monitor wells using pumps, bailers and other equipment. Other tasks may include preparation of field notes, preparation of samples for laboratory submittal, record-keeping and associated activities. The position requires the following qualifications: experience in environmental sampling or related work, ability to work extended shifts in the field, ability to lift 40-50 lbs, excellent communications skills, and ability to work as a productive member of a team. Will consider entry level candidates with a bachelor?s degree in a relevant discipline and limited field experience. Current HAZWOPER certification or willingness to obtain certification immediately is also required. Job Title: Supervisory Forestry Technician

Description:
The primary purpose of this position is to act as the first-line supervisor and coordinator for the fire crew. The work involves analyzing fire potential and planning fire and standby assignments for the crew and ensuring that firefighting and prescribed fire duties are given priority; coordinating with potential resource project leaders to ensure projects are within the crew's capabilities; assigning crews to fires and coordinating project assignments with other units; planning and adjusting short-term priorities, and preparing work schedules. Other duties include serving as initial attack incident commander during extended attack, implementing the crew training program; maintenance and inventory of the station's fire cache; preparing administrative and technical reports, equipment reports and supply requisitions; organizing and executing hazardous wildland fuel surveys to determine and prioritize prescribed burns and mechanical treatment projects; acting as prescribed burn boss on relatively small/less complex burn projects. At the GS-7 level, the employee will perform similar duties but under closer supervision, with instruction provided for advancement toward the full performance and eventual promotion.
