Our work requires close integration between our team of planners, land specialists, and environmental scientists, as well as with law and environmental policy and the gas, electric, and generation lines of business we support.Position SummaryThe Sr. Environmental Field Specialist (EFS) is responsible for preparing and communicating line of business environmental compliance and financial performance data that is specific to that line of business as appropriate. The Sr. EFS is also responsible for maintaining and updating the Companys Environmental Management System database regarding completed inspections, deficiencies, emergency response incidents, and corrective action plans as well as future timelines for inspections and requirements for Company compliance.The Sr. EFS contributes significantly in developing company procedures, guidance, specifications and guidelines. Maintains lead role in environmental regulatory agency communications and negotiations. Effectively defines and manages large or complex projects or tasks and adequately addresses resources when planning work scopes. Performs assignments of broad scope and high complexity, with few precedents or standards established, and which require integration of information from a variety of sources. Routinely applies extensive knowledge of technical principles, practices and regulatory requirements within one or more areas of expertise to resolve complex problems. May act as a mentor to Journey level employees and educate PGE personnel on technical issues.Environmental Compliance Oversight Services:Provide guidance and training services for Power Generation BU employees and contract employees in preparing labels, managing hazardous waste accumulation areas, performing weekly inspections and managing hazardous materials for clients. Assisting clients with transportation of wastes under variances. Preparing and signing manifests. Scheduling non-milkrun waste pickups. Approving payment of invoices for: Environmental compliance obligations performed by contractors, facility permits, and agency interaction. Assist clients implement waste minimization measures. Organize and provide oversight of all company environmental facility records including the monitoring and preparation of air and water emission reports.Environmental Training Services:To include, General Awareness, PCB, Hazardous Materials Transportation, Spill Response, Habitat and Species Protection, and other client requested or assessment driven environmental training and tailboards. Hazardous Waste Management and Emergency Response training for hazardous waste and emergency coordinators. Manage internal environmental audit process for clients.Quality Assurance/Quality Control:Provide routine environmental assessments at facilities. Provide environmental review for projects.Provide regular environmental assessments to each facility assigned. Interface with State Environmental Agency personnel for coordination of review. Develop regular status reports and provide updates and briefings to project management. Required Skills and Education: Bachelor of Science in environmental engineering or related technical field. Professional registration desired. Environmental field experience.
