Job Title: Environmental Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Environmental Engineer with the technical, managerial, and communication skills necessary to lead and inspire a team of environmental professionals. The successful candidate will engage in business development tasks, including proactive client communications through presentations, lunches, and corporate sponsorship activities. Additionally, you will provide practical and accurate environmental advice and strategies to clients involved in the purchase or sale of commercial and industrial properties, as well as lead them through obtaining Brownfields contracts with State regulatory agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Independently prepare written reports suitable for submittal to regulatory agencies, including site investigations, groundwater monitoring, and remediation design/evaluation.
  • Perform geo-environmental and laboratory data evaluation and produce reports with tabular and graphical presentations of data, such as contouring, mapping, and cross sections.
  • Coordinate field investigations and monitoring activities, including soil, groundwater, sub-slab/soil vapor, indoor air, and sediment sampling.

Essential Skills

  • Proven success in business development and client relationship management.
  • Experience working with clients in the industrial and real estate sectors.
  • Understanding of South Carolina's environmental regulatory framework.
  • Skilled in environmental remediation, field investigations, and technical report writing.
  • Effective communicator with a track record of engaging clients and stakeholders.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum of 7 years of prior experience.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in geology, environmental engineering, or a closely related field.
  • South Carolina licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or Professional Geologist (PG), preferred.
  • Familiarity and/or licensing under asbestos and wetland regulations, preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and AutoCAD/ArcGIS.
  • Experience supporting the investigation and characterization of subsurface contamination.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment with field, executive, and office staff.
  • OSHA 40-hr. HAZWOPER certified.
  • Must be open to limited travel, with the majority of assignments local to the Coastal Plain of South Carolina and nearby areas of Georgia and North Carolina.

Work Environment

Located in Charleston, SC, the position operates primarily Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM, with some flexibility for after-work networking and business development with local clients. The role entails a mix of 50% business development and 50% office/field work. A car reimbursement/allowance is provided for meetings and to build clientele.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $95000.00 - $125000.00/yr.
