Job Title: Environmental Scientist

Job Description

Join a dynamic environmental consulting firm in Michigan as an Environmental Scientist. Collaborate with a team of engineers, scientists, and technical staff on projects involving environmental investigations, UST removals, site remediation, and environmental due diligence. You will lead soil and groundwater field investigations, coordinate task resources, and guide junior-level staff, while providing comprehensive observation and testing services for geotechnical and environmental development projects.

Responsibilities

  • Assist project managers with planning and implementing field environmental investigation and remedial tasks.
  • Support hydrogeological assessments involving oversight of environmental drilling and well installation, as well as Phase I and Phase II due diligence assessments.
  • Conduct soil and groundwater sampling, including low flow sampling.
  • Provide excavation oversight and aquifer testing.
  • Evaluate data to support the development of site conceptual models for environmental investigations, delineate contamination, and optimize post-remedy monitoring programs.
  • Prepare regulatory documents such as Initial and Final Assessment Reports, Site Closure Reports, Status Reports, Phase I and II assessments, Due Care Plans, and other site-specific reporting.
  • Assist with project cost estimating, budget maintenance, and subcontractor coordination, including scheduling logistics and ensuring health and safety on-site.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental or Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, or Geology.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as an Environmental Scientist, Field Tech, Geologist, or Environmental Engineer.
  • Fieldwork sampling experience, including site assessments, remediation, subsurface drilling, soil boring descriptions, monitoring well installation, and soil sample collection for UST removal documentation.
  • LUST/UST project experience.
  • Current 40-hour HAZWOPER certification with 8-hour refresher.
  • Understanding of scope, schedule, and budget management.
  • Valid Michigan Driver's License with a clean driving record.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience is a bonus.
  • Willingness to transition into a Project Management role within 1-2 years.
  • Desire to mentor and train junior field technicians and scientists.

Work Environment

The position involves working 75% of the time in the field across Southeast Michigan, with 25% in the Brighton office. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $33.00/hr.
