Environmental Engineer Manager

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As an Environmental Engineer Manager, you will act in a supervisory capacity within the Southwest Regional Office, functioning as the Chapters 105 and 106 Permitting Manager for the Waterways & Wetlands Program. Work involves organizing, prioritizing, and delegating work, ensuring completion in accordance with established priorities. In this role, you will be able to share your expertise as you provide advice and guidance to staff concerning the application of applicable laws, rules, and regulations as well as provide direction and assistance to County Conservation District staff that have been delegated to conduct Chapter 105 permit reviews, inspections, and enforcement activities. Additional responsibilities include:

• Training new employees
• Conducting staff meetings
• Assigning staff to complete field investigations
• Collaborating with regional programs in the review of major projects
• Presenting information to municipalities, legislators, and the general public
• Providing testimony for litigation
• Handling a wide range of administrative tasks

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Pittsburgh.
• Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Two years as an Environmental Engineer or an Air Quality Engineer (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
• Five years of professional engineering experience in environmental protection or in environmental project development, design or construction.

Special Requirements:

• This position requires possession of a valid Professional Engineer license issued by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists or a valid Professional Engineer license issued by the applicable licensing body of another state.

Conditions of Employment:

• This position requires possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent.

Post Employment Requirement:

• Successful candidates with an out of state Professional Engineer license will be required to produce a valid Professional Engineer license issued by Pennsylvania within their initial six month probationary period.

Other Requirements:

• PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
