Employees being promoted to a higher classified position receive the minimum for the position or a pay rate adjustment of 8% whichever is greater.

All regular positions also entitle the employee to several benefits including health, dental, vision, life insurance, and retirement which is largely paid by New Mexico Tech for the employee and dependents.

JOB SUMMARY:

This hydrogeologist position will support the Aquifer Mapping Program and hydrogeologic projects at the New Mexico Bureau of Geology in their mission to characterize the aquifers and groundwater resources across the state of NM. Primary responsibilities will include conducting hydrologic research and providing scientific and technical support for a variety of regional and statewide hydrogeologic studies. We are looking for hydrogeologists with experience in geochemistry, project management, 3D subsurface geologic / hydrostratigraphic modeling, GIS mapping and analysis, and/or geophysical data interpretation (down hole or regional surveys). Applicants will be responsible for managing projects, writing reports /publishing results, and providing presentations. Procuring and managing project funds is expected. This position is partially supported by soft money contracts and may be contingent on continued contract awards.

JOB FUNCTIONS:

Lead and conduct hydrologic research (geologic, hydrologic, geochemical, geophysical), including data compilation, data collection, and interpretation of data.

Data analysis and mapping, report writing and presentations

Supporting regional hydrogeologic studies for data collection, interpretation, modeling or writing Procure and manage grants and contracts to support hydrologic research

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Master's degree in Earth Sciences, Hydrology or related fields. Analysis and report writing, developing presentations. Strong communication skills with both scientific and non-scientific colleagues and audiences. Ability to work well independently, as part of a team, and leading small teams of staff or contractors. Ability to review and interpret data efficiently. Working knowledge of GIS software.
