Youwill be part of the Agency of Natural Resources, Public Drinking WaterProgram, and will be working closely with a team of engineers andscientists to review and optimize drinking water design plans throughresearch, analysis, and site visits.This job could be for you if:- You have an eye for details when reviewing construction projects spanning water sources, storage, transmission and distribution, pumping, and treatment systems.- You thrive in a work environment that encourages technical conversations spanning a wide spectrum of disciplines such as hydraulics, water treatment chemistry, funding, public health and environmental justice.- You appreciate teamwork and are good at coordinating project work with internal and external partner.- You like helping others. You are patient and level-headed when providing technical and regulatory assistance to Vermont\'s public drinking water systems and their consultants.- You are motivated and driven. You take ownership of your projects and tasks and want to make a difference.We are specifically looking for someone with:- Demonstrated experience and understanding of drinking water treatment and distribution- The ability to interpret technical drawings and engineering reports- Succinct communication, both verbally and in writing, using a high degree of independent judgement and tactThe engineering team has two licensed engineers, and if needed, we willactively support you in your pursuit of a professional engineeringlicense through collaboration, training and mentorship.The Agency of Natural Resources and Drinking Water Program has anemployee-friendly telework policy, requiring staff (once trained) towork from the office as little as a few days a month. The rest of thedays, staff are welcome to work in the office as they wish or work fromtheir productive home offices. Frequent site visits will be expected aspart of your training.The position is limited service for 2 years, with the potential tobecome long-term. When comparing salaries, remember that comprehensivebenefits are worth up to 30% of your total compensation. Our workschedules are flexible and more than 80 hours per pay period is rarelynecessary and always compensated.## **Environmental Factors**Duties are largely performed in an office setting; however, some fieldtravel may be necessary for which private means of transportation mustbe available. Fieldwork may involve exposure to chemicals, gases,hazardous liquid and solid waste, and construction sites during allweather conditions; and may involve traversing rough terrain and bodiesof water. Some work outside of regular working hours, includingattendance at public meetings, may be required. Strong differences ofopinion may be encountered on a regular basis.
