Environmental Scientist/Technician

**Job Summary:**
We are seeking a dedicated Environmental Scientist/Technician that can perform Erosion & Sediment Control Inspections as part of a great team throughout Virginia. The role involves conducting field inspections at various project sites to ensure compliance with permits, project site designs and documents, with required post-construction inspections. The ideal candidate should hold a valid VA driver's license, with a clean record, and preferably possess DEQ ESC & SWM certifications.
**Responsibilities:**
- Prepare and maintain detailed records and reports related to erosion and sedimentation.
- Review sedimentation and erosion control plans for compliance.
- Inspect project site perimeters, silt fence, construction entrances, grading, and best management practices (BMPs),etc.
- Stay current with laws and regulations.
- Conduct field inspections to monitor compliance and enforcement activity records.
- Perform groundwater monitoring and prepare reports according to DEQ permit requirements
-Perform stormwater inspections with water quality sampling and prepare reports according to DEQ permit requirements
-Oversee groundwater monitoring well installations to include soil evaluations and sampling
- Perform additional duties as needed.
**Qualifications:**
- High school diploma required; Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred.
- VA DEQ Stormwater and ESC certification required, or ability to obtain within 6 months.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Strong organizational and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
- Two to five years of experience.
- Self-starter with a willingness to learn.
- Reliable, punctual, and responsive to inquiries.
