Kelly Science is seeking an Environmental Health and Safety Manager to join a growing team located in Brooklyn, NY.

Salary: $120,000-145,000/year depending on experience

Employment Type: Full Time; Direct Hire

Summary:

As the Environmental Health and Safety Manager, you will be responsible for training both the internal and external team on safety requirements, play a crucial role in the development and implementation of safety programs and auditing for compliance of federal, state and local safety practices.

Job Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and implement safety programs to ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulations.
  • Organize and conduct safety training for employees as needed.
  • Cultivate a workplace culture where safety is a behavior, not just a policy.
  • Support and promote EHS compliance and safety culture internally and externally.
  • Preplan contractor activities for safety through scope reviews and risk assessments.
  • Maintain and review safety documentation and reporting.
  • Recommend solutions for safety or health hazards.
  • Facilitate inspections for environmental, health, and safety compliance.
  • Coach teams on hazard identification, avoidance, and corrective actions.
  • Investigate accidents/near misses and complete reports.
  • Manage project correspondence with insurance carriers.
  • Ensure availability of safety equipment and resources for teams.
  • Prioritize health and safety at all sites for company employees.
  • Assist with audit preparation and closeout.
  • Help with vendor and service provider selection.
  • Champion emergency response planning, creation, training, and reporting.
  • Implement processes to comply with relevant codes and regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in occupational health, safety or a related scientific field
  • 5+ years of environmental health and safety experience in the oil and gas or petrochemicals industry.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) is highly desirable.
  • Extensive knowledge of federal, state, and local EH&S regulations and laws.
  • Strong knowledge of safety systems and new techniques to improve safety in the workplace.
  • Knowledge of industry standards as applied to industrial environments.
