**Overview**

Tanaq Environmental, LLC. (Tanaq) delivers environmental engineering, investigation, consulting, and remediation services to local, state, and federal agencies in the areas of hazardous & toxic waste restoration, environmental compliance, emerging contaminants, and military munitions site management. Tanaq is a subsidiary of the St. George Tanaq Corporation, an Alaskan Native Corporation (ANC) committed to serving Federal customers while also giving back to the Alaskan native community and shareholders.

**Position Summary**

We are seeking a **Project Engineer / Geologist I** to support environmental restoration and compliance projects for the United States Government and commercial clients. This position will support remedial investigation, remedial design, and remedial actions for contaminated sites located throughout the United States. The job requires an understanding of environmental investigation and remediation concepts and the ability to ensure performance of work is completed in accordance with environmental regulatory and contractual requirements. The job may also require oversight of subcontractors and/or in-house field crews conducting site investigations and remediation of soil, groundwater, surface water, and sediment at PFAS, petroleum- and hazardous-waste sites.

This is a hybrid remote work role that can be based anywhere in the United States and requires an estimated 60% annual travel within the United States, depending on project requirements.

**Responsibilities**

+ Leads environmental compliance and/or remediation projects, including preparation of planning documents, reports, designs, and contract documents.

+ Directs teams of engineers, geologists, and/or scientists conducting environmental restoration project support.

+ Completes investigations and remedial processes to address emerging contaminants (PFAS), petroleum, or hazardous waste sites.

+ Provides oversight and supervision of environmental cleanup contractors.

+ Prepares subcontractor scopes of work and specifications.

+ Solicits, evaluates, and procures subcontractors for investigation or remediation projects.

+ Evaluates contractor performance in accordance with the approved plans.

+ Coordinates and interacts with homeowners and the public in support of government clients.

+ Travel to potentially contaminated sites throughout the United States to support a variety of field activities and contractor oversight.

+ Calculates cost estimates and prepares technical strategies that support environmental restoration project proposals.

Requirements

**Required Experience and Skills**

+ Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role.

+ Demonstrated experience in the application of environmental engineering or geologic principles.

+ Strong commitment to site safety and adherence to safety plans.

+ Prior experience working on environmental restoration projects is preferred.

+ Prior experience working on federal government projects preferred.

+ Experience with Hazardous, Toxic, and Radioactive Waste (HTRW), PFAS contamination, other emerging contaminants, and environmental compliance preferred.

+ Attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.

+ Organizational skills and ability to plan and manage multiple tasks.

+ Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

+ The ability to work independently and as part of a team to execute assignments at various locations, providing a consistently high level of quality and accuracy.

+ Professional demeanor with a positive, solution-seeking attitude, and personal responsibility.

+ Must possess a valid driver's license with a clear and satisfactory driving record.

+ Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.

+ Must be able to obtain clearance to access military bases and other federal government installations to perform job duties.

**Education and Training**

+ Bachelors degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Engineering or closely related technical area of expertise from accredited institution.

+ 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training with current annual 8-hour update is preferred; training may be provided for otherwise qualified applicants.

**Physical Requirements**

+ Must be willing and able to travel 60% of time to visit job sites, perform field work, and attend client meetings.

+ Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

+ Mobility: Ability to walk, climb stairs, bend, squat, and kneel to perform inspections throughout the project site. This may include uneven terrain or accessing confined spaces with limited mobility.

+ Strength and Stamina: The ability to lift and carry moderate weight up to 25 lbs (e.g., safety equipment, tools) and maintain stamina for extended periods of site inspections and walking distances.

+ Vision and Hearing: Clear vision (correctable to 20/20) to identify potential hazards, read safety documents, and observe work activities. Good hearing (correctable to acceptable levels) to detect warning signals, alarms, and communication on the job site.

+ Must be able to work in various weather conditions and wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) comfortably.
