Are you a proactive EHS professional with a passion for lab safety and compliance? We're supporting a global biopharma leader in their search for a Senior Environmental Health & Safety Engineer to join their team onsite in Gaithersburg, MD. This is a full-time, contract role with strong potential for extension.

You'll play a key role in supporting safe, compliant operations within a dynamic research environment. If you're experienced in environmental health, safety programs, and working cross-functionally with vendors and scientific teamsthis opportunity is for you.

Position Overview:

Ensure all site operations meet environmental, health, and safety standards

Oversee safety and environmental compliance across scientific and lab spaces

Support training requirements and implement site-specific EHS protocols

Conduct incident investigations and facilitate corrective actions

Perform audits of vendor activities and verify EHS documentation

Issue permits, conduct Job Hazard Assessments (JHAs), and assist with high-risk work protocols

Act as the primary point of contact for safety-related vendor coordination

Assist with security access, vendor escorts, and onsite activity tracking

Participate in site safety meetings and drive continuous improvement initiatives

Ideal Candidate Has:

Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, environmental science, industrial hygiene, occupational safety, or related field

3+ years of experience in environmental health and safety roles

Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office

Proven ability to develop SOPs and engage with cross-functional stakeholders

Excellent communication skills and a proactive mindset

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience building or expanding an EHS program

Familiarity with laboratory environments

Background in biopharma or research & development settings
