Who are we looking for? Our Natural Resources & Impact Assessment Group provides environmental impact documentation and permitting services for a broad range of interesting clients and projects, working across multiple geographies and market sectors, including maritime and coastal projects throughout California and the Pacific .

GHD is looking for an experienced Senior Environmental Planner/Project Manager to work in our Eureka, CA office. The ideal candidate should have significant experience overseeing the environmental review process for various projects . Work location will comprise both in-office and remote (work from home) arrangements.

You will provide oversight and lead others in the delivery of corporate communications services and the building of relationships with stakeholders, customers, media, internal staff, and business associates. Develop strategies to improve the corporate image, and advise management and other employees on all aspects of communication. Act as a link to external media to deliver the messages to the target audience.

Responsibilities

  • Data Collection and Analysis: Make authoritative recommendations that have a significant impact on the business over the short and long term. Recommendations could be technical or professional in nature.
  • Public/Government Relations Campaign Execution: Oversee a particular area, product, or service within the larger public relations, government relations, regulation, and registration strategy. This involves managing development or delivery (or both).
  • Public/Government Relations Campaign Management: Manage a portfolio of public relations and government relations campaigns and negotiate service-level agreements to ensure successful campaigns and value for money. Plan, coordinate, and supervise activities relating to major campaigns.
  • Public/Government Relations Campaign Planning: Lead the strategic planning of public relations, government relations, regulation, and registration campaigns for the multinational organization, aligning this with business goals.
  • Leadership and Direction: Communicate the function's strategy and its relationship to the organization's mission, vision, and values; clarify the actions needed to implement this strategy within the area of responsibility; motivate people to commit to the mission, vision, and values and do extraordinary things to achieve the organization's business goals.
  • Performance Management: Manage and report on performance within the department or area of responsibility; set appropriate performance objectives for direct reports and hold individuals accountable for achieving them; take appropriate corrective action where necessary to ensure the achievement of annual business objectives.
  • Organizational Capability Building: Evaluate the capabilities of staff within the department to identify gaps and prioritize development activities. Implement the organization's formal development frameworks within the area of responsibility. Coach and mentor others to support the development of the organization's talent pool.
  • Policy Development and Implementation: Develop functional or operational policies and help develop policy frameworks for area of responsibility or department. Take responsibility for creating underlying procedures and monitoring their implementation.
  • Functional Strategy Formation: Lead the development and implementation of strategy for a significant area of responsibility, anticipating complex issues, challenges, and opportunities and ensuring integration with wider corporate strategy.
  • Project Management: Manage a portfolio of major projects in line with overall project management strategy.
  • Community of Practice Management: Contribute strongly on a strategically significant area to a community of practice in a defined area of expertise or consulting, or lead on an area of expertise or consulting practice, to contribute to thought leadership and to develop innovative practice among colleagues.
  • Health, Safety, and Environment: Ensure that business activities and individuals (e.g., employees, contractors, and visitors) within the area of responsibility adhere to the organization's health, safety, and environment (HSE) policies, procedures, and mandatory instructions, to safeguard the environment, protect the well-being of individuals, and minimize business risk.
  • Client & Customer Management (External): Manage key client and customer relationships. Likely to involve using account teams to maintain customer satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Bid Solicitation/Request for Proposal/Tender Analysis: Conduct the most-complex feasibility studies from technological, financial, and organizational perspectives on bid solicitation request for proposal (RFP) and request for tender (RFT) project requirements, and coordinate the writing of tender specifications.
  • Personal Capability Building: Act as subject matter expert in an area of technology, policy, regulation, or operational management for the team and beyond in the function. Maintain external accreditations and in-depth understanding of current and emerging technologies, external regulation, and industry best practices through continuing professional development, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.

Education

  • BA/BS or higher, in environmental sciences, engineering, urban planning, geography, public administration, or a closely related field. Master's Degree a plus
  • Professional certifications are a plus.

Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of experience providing most or all essential duties and responsibilities noted above, with emphases on project management and business development.

Salary Range: $128,000-$214,000 based on experience and location
