Job Description
This Environmental Scientist II is a mid-level position in the Air Monitoring group of the Division of Air Quality. This ESII will assist in all aspects of technical support and will work closely with group managers to operate the State's air monitoring network. The incumbent will help to develop solutions to analytical problems, verify and correct issues as necessary, and validate the performance of new and existing monitoring equipment. The incumbent will be responsible for collecting field samples throughout the year and must be able to work out of doors. The ESII will work with the Quality Assurance group to assist with the planning, design, execution, and analysis of special air monitoring studies. The ESII will perform Level 1 Quality Assurance of data collected at assigned sites.

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Environmental Scientist II
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:
Possession of a Bachelors degree or higher in Life, Physical, or Applied Science or related field.
Six months experience in analyzing and evaluating scientific data.
Six months experience in interpreting laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures.
Six months experience in using an automated information system to enter, update, modify, delete, retrieve/inquire and report on data.
Six months experience in technical report writing.
Applicants who do not possess the preferred qualification will still be eligible to compete for this position if job requirements are met.
Six months experience in operating and maintaining ambient air quality monitoring equipment.
