CDM Smith is seeking a motivated Mid-Level Hydrogeologist to join our team and support a diverse portfolio of water resources and environmental projects.

In this role, the successful candidate will contribute to groundwater investigations, hydrogeologic characterization, and technical analyses that inform sustainable water management and environmental solutions.

Working alongside multidisciplinary teams, the hydrogeologist will help design and implement field investigations, interpret hydrogeologic data, and support the development of technical reports and modeling efforts.

This position offers the opportunity to apply strong analytical and field skills while collaborating with experienced professionals on complex groundwater challenges that make a meaningful impact for our clients and communities.

Main responsibilities include:

Under general supervision, performs basic to moderate complexity geologic/hydrogeologic analysis (aquifer test analysis; geochemical analysis; geotechnical analysis; contaminant transport analysis etc.) in both surface and subsurface geologic conditions pertaining to water supply, contaminant and/or geotechnical assessments.

Activities may include subsurface geological formation logging, water sampling, surface geological mapping, aquifer testing and/or soils characterization and data compilation and evaluation.

Prepares cross sections, Iso-concentration maps, technical reports, and/or QA/QC analysis.

Develops draft evaluations and calculations for compliance with federal, state and local regulations. Ensures that firm policies and practices are followed on all assessments.

Schedules and reviews the work of subcontractors during field work. Contributes to firm's Technical Knowledge Management by developing white papers and technical design documentation of new or special case designs, studies, etc.. Submits technical papers and designs for publishing to technical journals.

Attends conferences, symposia, etc. to improve the visibility of the firm's products and services in collaboration with applicable sales staff.

Serves as field lead/task manager on one or more projects for a staff of 1 to 4 geologists. Provides technical guidance and training to more junior staff. Reviews the work of more junior staff.

This position will require periods of travel for field supervision and oversight of drilling operations including overnight hours and weekends.

Performs other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Science or related discipline.

5 years of related experience.

Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.

Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
