Title : EHS Manager Location : Chilhowie, VA 24319 Salary : $115,000 - $135,000 + 15% annual bonus Hire Type: Direct Hire Relocation : Relocation assistance available Benefits : Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage 401(k) with company match Paid time off and holidays Annual bonus opportunity Additional company-sponsored benefits Sterling Engineering is partnering with a plastics packaging manufacturer to identify an EHS Manager to lead environmental, health, and safety initiatives at their Chilhowie, VA facility. This role will oversee plant-wide EHS programs, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive continuous improvement in safety culture and performance. Responsibilities : Lead and manage all environmental, health, and safety programs across the facility Ensure full compliance with OSHA, EPA, and all federal, state, and local regulations Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies, procedures, and training programs Conduct incident investigations, root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions Maintain accurate reporting and documentation for injuries, illnesses, and compliance records Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies and environmental inquiries Obtain and manage environmental permits and regulatory approvals as required Drive continuous improvement of safety programs, culture, and overall incident reduction Lead safety committees and promote a proactive, plant-wide safety culture Analyze EHS data to identify trends and implement improvement initiatives Partner with leadership and cross-functional teams to support operational goals Qualifications : Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Environmental Engineering, or related field required 3-5+ years of EHS experience within a manufacturing environment required Strong working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and regulatory compliance requirements required Experience leading EHS programs, training, and continuous improvement initiatives required Proven ability to conduct investigations and perform root cause analysis required Experience working with environmental permits and regulatory agencies required Strong communication skills with the ability to train and influence at all levels of the organization Experience building and promoting a strong safety culture within a manufacturing setting Proficiency with Microsoft Office and EHS reporting systems ISO 45001 or OSHA VPP experience preferred Qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, age, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, protected veteran status, or genetic information.
