Primary Purpose of the Organization:
The Facilities Management department's functions are to design, construct, maintain, and operate the university's physical facilities. The primary objective is to provide and maintain facilities that will enhance and support the university's mission and academic goals. Primary Purpose of the Position:
This position will function as a first-line supervisor, directing subordinate staff. The employee works with minimal supervision and uses independent judgment to apply guidelines to specific situations. The employee supervises the work of custodial personnel, assigns duties, inspects work, investigates complaints regarding custodial service, and takes corrective action. The employee ensures that the building environmental services technicians/team leaders under their charge are adequately trained and have the appropriate tools and equipment needed to complete assignments successfully. Duties may include the responsibility for equipment upkeep and for maintaining enough supplies in the inventory. Work may be performed under administrative supervision and may include other duties as assigned.
Brief Summary of Duties:
- Planning and Organizing Work: Selects and assigns staff, ensuring equal employment opportunity in work assignments and promotional recommendations.Coordinates activities by scheduling work assignments, setting priorities, and directing the work of subordinate employees.
- Managing Work Processes and Performance: Inspect employee work areas and regularly evaluate performance. Monitors the attendance of employees and takes corrective action if necessary. Maintains records, prepares reports, and composes correspondence relative to the work.
- Customer Service: Ensures a high level of customer service is consistently delivered.
- Knowledge-Technical: Operates and uses tools and equipment typically utilized in the janitorial field. Ensures all equipment, furniture, and furnishings are maintained, checked, and in good working order-hands-on experience with cleaning and general labor tasks for a large organization.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Graduation from High School or possession of a GED, and one (1) year of experience in the area assigned; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
A valid driver's license. Must have and maintain an acceptable driving record, preferably five or more years of driving experience with no more than one minor at fault accident or violation in the past three years.
Knowledge skills and abilities: Preferred Qualifications:
Five (5 ) years supervisory experience and APPA or ISSA certification.
