Purpose:
The Environmental Scientist will serve as a point of contact for the monitoring well applications received by the section. They will also serve as a project manager for state and federal site assessments. The employee will assist in sampling and other fieldwork in support of section activities at state and federal Superfund sites, Brownfield sites, Dry-cleaning sites and other sites as needed. They will serve as a driller's assistant on a GeoProbe direct-push, subsurface sampling rig.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as a point of contact for the monitoring well applications received by the section. Process the applications in ePermitting and provide all necessary documentation to the applicants. Review data associated with monitoring well applications and determine appropriate responses from the Department.
- Assess sites and prepare reports based on state and federal requirements and guidelines.
- Assist with sampling activities at state and federal sites, as well as serving as a drilling assistant and supporting operations of the Geoprobe drill rig. Other duties as required to support the Federal and State Site Assessment Section.
<span class="fr-mk" style="display: none;"> </span> A high school diploma and experience in environmental health programs or radiological health.
A bachelor's degree in the natural or physical sciences, mathematics, public health, engineering or a related technical field may be substituted for the required work experience.
Institutions of Higher Learning must be recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.
