Job Summary

Exhibits expert level of proficiency plus a unique knowledge of a specialized technical or program area that enables the specialist to serve as the expert and highest level resource for the company in that area. Works in a team environment to provide environmental permitting and compliance support to a variety of company facilities, including power generating stations, electric transmission and distribution facilities, service centers, office buildings and other AEP regulated and commercial business operations. Leads regulatory development activities, as well as research and development related to environmental regulatory compliance.

Job Description

We are considering candidates at two different grades for this position. Candidates will be evaluated & considered for the highest level to which they qualify.

What you'll do:

1) Identifies, resolves, and initiates solutions to the most complex problems that are unique to the company and industry and requires extensive specialized knowledge, or the development of knowledge and techniques.

2) Leads, facilitates and coordinates work activities of others within work group, team, department, or those external to the company and assumes the role of project or function manager for assigned compliance tasks.

3) Serves as an internal expert resource in a specialized environmental technical or regulatory program area, and is highly recognized and regarded by those external to the company.

4) Develops, recommends, and implements plans that include all scheduling, resource, and cost information and control required to address the most complex compliance problems that require the input and efforts of a wide array of entities both internal and external to the company.

5) Identifies areas for strategic environmental research, and initiates and coordinates relevant projects.

6) Leads in the preparation and presentation of the most complex technical subjects, clearly, concisely, and persuasively, bringing in ancillary issues before senior management, professional organizations, regulatory bodies, etc.

7) Identifies and initiates pro-active changes to regulations and standards, in the interests of the company, and engages multiple stakeholders in the process, networking throughout AEP, other companies, professional organizations, and regulatory agencies.

8) Serves in a leadership position within professional and business environmental regulatory and research organizations.

What we're looking for:

Education requirements are listed below: Bachelor's degree (environmental science, biology, chemistry, natural resources, or ecology or related field)

Work Experience requirement for Grade 9: Minimum of 18 years of environmental experience.

Work Experience requirement for Grade 8: Minimum of 10 years of environmental experience.

Note: Individuals with a Master's or Doctorate degree may be considered for entry into the organization at this level.

Other Must Haves:

1. Physical demand level is Sedentary

2. Registration in recognized associations and organizations for environmental professionals is encouraged.

3. 40 hours per week with some overtime required.

4. Periodic travel required.

$112,869.00-146,730.50 USD

The Physical Demand Level for this job is: S Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally (Occasionally: activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time) and/or a negligible amount of force frequently. (Frequently: activity or condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
