Description

Position Location: 7595 Irvine Center Dr., Suite 250, Irvine, CA 92618

Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm

  • Support the design of assessment programs and remedial options for site cleanup, as well as environmental due diligence, regulatory compliance, and permitting activities.
  • Scope, coordinate, and perform fieldwork to support environmental assessment, remediation, and restoration projects. Fieldwork may include the collection of groundwater, soil, soil vapor, and surface water samples.
  • Develop and track project budgets.
  • Prepare high-quality technical presentations, reports, letters, plans, and proposals with minimal senior GSI staff oversight.
  • Regularly interact with senior GSI staff, clients, and regulators to communicate project status.
  • Coordinate with vendors, subcontractors, and analytical laboratories and independently perform subcontractor oversight.
  • Manage, analyze, and interpret environmental data using statistical and data visualization tools.
  • Perform and oversee data entry and QA/QC of data tables, maps, reports, and other work products.
  • Independently perform research tasks with input from senior staff and technical experts.
  • Contribute to a team atmosphere through collaboration with technical experts, project managers, colleagues, and subcontractors.

Qualifications/Requirements

Education requirements: Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related degree or foreign degree equivalent

Experience requirements: 3 years of related work experience in environmental permitting and compliance in any occupation where the required experience is gained

Special Skills or Other Requirements:

Telecommuting is permitted, but applicants must live within a reasonable commuting distance.

Work experience must include:

  • California's Industrial General Permit experience including the following:

  • Environmental permitting and compliance.

  • Data review, formatting and submission to the Storm Water Multiple Application and Report Tracking Systems (SMARTS).

  • Development of compliance documents such as Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs), Exceedance Response Action Reports (ERAs), Water Quality based Corrective Action Reports (WQBCARs).

  • National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit and current Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) permit requirements for storm water programs experience.

  • Field experience in stormwater sampling.

  • Flow monitoring water quality analysis and the utilization of remote sensing data loggers and automated sampling equipment.

  • Stormwater data evaluation and analysis.

  • Mapping software - GIS and AutoCAD.

  • Project Management including proposal preparation, proposal budgeting, client meetings.

License/Certification Requirements:

  • Engineer in Training certification or eligibility for EIT
  • 40 hour OSHA HAZWOPER course completion certification and current 8 hour refresher courses
  • Qualified Industrial Stormwater Practitioner (QISP) certification

Travel Requirements: 15% domestic travel.
