Senior Environmental Scientist (Specialist): Exam Bulletin Link

This position is a 12-month Limited Term (LT) and may be extended up to 24 months or become permanent.

Working Conditions

The position requires the ability to use a computer keyboard and Microsoft Office software for up to eight hours per day, and to complete office tasks that involve sitting, standing, and walking to other locations. Must be able to walk on uneven, hilly terrain during field visits.The position may be located in either the Ontario or Bishop office, with site visits throughout the Inland Deserts Region, including Mono, Inyo, San Bernardino, Riverside, and Imperial Counties. Periodic travel outside the Inland Deserts Region may also be required via private or public transportation. The role also includes coordinating and participating in meetings and conference calls, as well as attending in-person meetings and workgroups with stakeholders and local, state, and federal agencies within the Inland Deserts Region and other regions. Field site visits and travel may be necessary. As a condition of employment, the incumbent may be required to wear an appropriate uniform consistent with CDFW's Operations Manual (Section 12901) for various work situations, including field surveys and public interaction, both within and outside the Region as required by the supervisor. This position offers the possibility of an office-centered telework agreement based on the Department's current Telework Policy.
