Your Job

This position is responsible for regular cleaning of the zoo based on an assigned routine, including but not limited to emptying trash, picking up trash on grounds, cleaning floors, walls, windows, toilets, sinks, mirrors, wiping railing, and dusting.

Your Essential Responsibilities

  • Clean the zoo daily based on assigned routine, which include public areas, nonpublic areas, outdoor locations, indoor locations, grounds, and offices.
  • Complete all assigned cleaning tasks within an acceptable timeframe and utilize a keen eye for detail.
  • Bring unforeseen issues to the attention of the management team, with a constant focus on guest satisfaction and the highest level of customer service.
  • Check and replace light bulbs and check/restock supplies such as paper products, chemicals, and soap.
  • Operate custodial equipment as required such as buffers and power washers, etc.
  • Respond to radio calls regarding spills, leaks, accidents, etc. that occur throughout the day.
  • Acknowledge guests on grounds and provide assistance/answer questions.
  • Effectively communicate and demonstrate interpersonal skills with all levels of employees in a clear and professional manner.
  • Demonstrate and adhere to TZMI's workplace values.
  • Know and follow zoo policies and procedures, including emergency protocols.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no direct reports.

What We Expect

Required Qualifications, Education and/or Experience

  • One-year related experience and/or training.
  • Must be 18 years or older, possess a valid driver's license, and be insurable on TZMI's insurance carrier
  • Must be able to work weekends, evenings, and holidays.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos; write simple correspondence; effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of TZMI.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to use basic computer-based systems such as an electronic timeclock, a zoo radio, etc.; Microsoft Outlook and popular internet browsers such as Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge, Safari, Google Chrome.
