Summary Statement

This position is responsible for the daily operations of theDelaware Spotted Lanternfly (SLF) Survey, Control, and Permit Program. Dutiesinclude contacting landowners, tenants, municipal authorities, and others tosecure permission to inspect properties for SLF and perform pesticidetreatments. Includes identifying and marking trees for treatment, datacollection and reporting, training staff on survey protocol, and conductingoutreach. Candidate will manage the Delaware SLF permit program and will contactand educate businesses requiring enrollment, process permits and enforce permitregulations. Work conducted in a variety of field and weather conditions.

  • Conducts field studies or inspections and evaluations for compliance with permit and regulatory requirements; observes, collects, analyzes, reviews and interprets data from standard field studies, compliance inspections, various regulatory submissions or literature and makes recommendations.
  • Performs statistical analysis of data.
  • Conducts technical reviews and makes recommendations on permit applications or other various regulatory submissions to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Prepares permits, technical reports and/or enforcement case documents.
  • Responds to technical/regulatory inquiries from other state, local and federal agencies as well as public and private organizations or individuals.
Job Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Environmental Scientist I
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:

  1. Possession of a Bachelors degree or higher in Life, Physical, or Applied Science or related field.
  2. Knowledge of controlled sampling, monitoring and testing techniques.
  3. Knowledge of analyzing and evaluating data.
  4. Knowledge of technical report writing.
  5. Knowledge of using an automated information system to enter, update, modify, delete, retrieve/inquire and report on data.
