Environmental Civil Engineer Jobs in Ohio
An Environmental Civil Engineer plays a crucial role in the environmental industry by designing, developing and implementing sustainable engineering solutions to environmental problems. They work closely with other professionals and stakeholders to ensure that construction and development projects don't negatively impact the environment. Their main responsibilities often include conducting research, preparing reports, designing sustainable systems, overseeing project implementation and managing waste and pollution control systems. They also play a role in planning infrastructure projects, keeping the environment's health as a key consideration.
To excel in this role, Environmental Civil Engineers should have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, strong communication abilities, and a deep understanding of environmental science and civil engineering principles. They must also have detailed knowledge of environmental regulations and laws. Certifications like the Professional Engineering (PE) License, Certified Construction Manager (CCM), or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification can be useful. Prior to becoming an Environmental Civil Engineer, a person might work as a Civil Engineer, Environmental Scientist, or Project Engineer, gaining valuable experience and skills that will aid in their later role.
