Environmental Manager Jobs in British Columbia

An Environmental Manager in the environmental industry is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring environmental strategies, policies, and programs that promote sustainable development. They conduct environmental audits and assessments, identify and reduce environmental risks, and manage the development of environmental programs. They also ensure compliance with environmental legislation and keep abreast of changes in environmental standards and legislation. Their objective is to control the impact of an organization's operations on the environment, ensuring legal and corporate environmental obligations are met, and reducing carbon footprint.

Important skills for this role include excellent project management skills, strong knowledge of environmental legislation, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to influence and negotiate. They should ideally hold a degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, or a related field, and professional certifications like Certified Environmental Professional (CEP) or Certified Professional Environmental Auditor (CPEA) can be advantageous. Prior roles that could lead to becoming an Environmental Manager could include Environmental Officer, Environmental Consultant, or Environmental Analyst.
