Environmental Compliance Specialist Jobs

An Environmental Compliance Specialist in the environmental industry is primarily responsible for ensuring that an organization's operations align with environmental laws and regulations. Their duties include the evaluation and analysis of an organization's environmental impact, developing and implementing environmental policies and procedures, conducting environmental audits, and ensuring the proper disposal of hazardous waste. They also play a critical role in the management and prevention of environmental risks, liaising with environmental agencies and stakeholders, and promoting sustainability initiatives.

Key skills required for this role include excellent knowledge of environmental laws and regulations, strong analytical skills, good report writing and communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and the ability to use relevant software. In terms of certification, a Certified Environmental Specialist (CES) credential can demonstrate expertise in this field. Prior roles that could prepare a person for this position include Environmental Analyst, Environmental Consultant, or Environmental Health and Safety Officer. All these roles provide experience in assessing environmental impact and developing mitigation strategies, which are crucial experience for an Environmental Compliance Specialist.
