Permitting Manager Jobs
A Permitting Manager in the environmental industry is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of local, state, and federal environmental permitting for a company's projects. This includes understanding and applying current environmental regulations, coordinating with project teams to prepare permitting documents, and liaising with regulatory agencies to ensure compliance. They also work closely with other team members to develop and implement project-specific permitting strategies.
Important skills for a Permitting Manager include excellent communication and negotiation skills, in-depth understanding of environmental laws and regulations, and strong project management skills. Certification as a Professional Environmental Engineer or similar is typically preferred, as is a background in environmental science or a related field. Prior to becoming a Permitting Manager, a person might have roles such as Environmental Specialist, Permitting Specialist or Environmental Consultant, which would provide the necessary experience in environmental regulations and permitting processes.
